 "Great Birthday Gift" 2009-03-15
By E. Ristaino (Cornelius NC)
My husband gave me this watch for my birthday. I wanted an atomic watch. I wanted accuracy. It changed time without me messing with anything when the time changed last weekend. It is attractive and not too large for a small woman's wrist.

"This is a GREAT watch" 2008-12-24
By John D. Kelner
I almost didn't buy this watch because of the one crappy review. I have had two waveceptor watches and only bought the second because my first didn't have analog and digital. I love both. And now SOLAR?? Batteries are $9 now. They last me 3 years or so, but I have had my recent watch for 10 years. This 'seemed' to be the way to go for my girlfriend who says her $200 watch never has the right time. I almost didn't buy it. And I did buy it. I opened the box and damn, it was at 12:00. DOA I figured. I should have listened. And the second it hit light, it set itself to the right date and time and works perfectly. Ok, everyone can have a bad experience. I had a good one. It goes into hibernation mode after a few days (which explains the 12:00 and the come back to life). I am 'charging it' under a halogen light for a few hours before re-boxing it. I am almost hoping that it goes into hybernation mode. It's amazing to see reset. Every watch should have this. Sorry but even expensive Rolex watches have the wrong time after a while. These NEVER do.... until the battery does. Oh, did I mention, no batteries in this. And the time to recharge for daily use is - well, if you don't live in a cave... it should be perfect.

 "Good after pump-priming" 2010-01-10
By Andrew Ellis (Lafayette, CA USA)
I was concerned how good the coverage would be from the WWVB 60 kHz transmitter in Fort Collins, CO, that this watch uses. My home is over 900 miles (1500 km) from it.

Once you set your time zone, the watch tries to sync itself five times during the overnight (On Pacific Standard Time, it happens on the hour starting at midnight.) The watch reports whether it synced correctly, and on which attempt.

The first few nights, no sync. But after I forced a manual sync, which failed, the automatic function started working! No explanation for why it happened that way, but it did. Since then, it manages to sync about 75% of the nights, and that's while it's on my wrist, not placed in a window as the manual suggests.

The result is that the watch is always correct to the second, compared with a GPS master clock system at my work.

I'm very satisfied with this product.

 "A great watch for pool/sports" 2009-07-21
By RSRCHB4UBY (CA USA)
This is a nice looking, comfortable watch that has more functions than I need.

I purchased this watch for the pool and it works great for this purpose. The user interface is very intuitive: I was able to figure out all functions without opening the manual.

I particularly like the automatic time set function. The watch receives a radio signal from the US atomic clock daily and sets the correct time automatically.

Overall, I am very happy with this watch, and at fewer than thirty dollars I consider it a great value.

 "Good Watch, Cool Features" 2009-10-23
By NILADRI MUKHERJEE (NEW JERSEY, USA)
This is a nice & cool watch. like any other Casio watch it gives accurate time. The auto time sync feature is really cool & it works perfectly. But I had hard time setting it up to work for the first time. It syncs with the atomic time only in the mid night & my watch did it in the third night :). There after it does it automatically I do not monitor it any more.

 "Alarm Sound is useless" 2009-09-15
By G. Herron (California, USA)
Casio has been my favorite watch since they started making them. I've had them most of my life. However, it seems that all the one's coming out now have such a low sound on the alarms or for chimes for on the hour is useless. You would have to have the thing next to your ear to hear it. If you were asleep, forget it. I love everything else about their new line. Everything works great but that. Too bad as it was the real deal breaker.

"Nice watch with band issue" 2009-08-05
By L. Ott
The face of the watch is very nice and the time is in big print. The date maybe hard to read for people with poor vision because is small. I can read it but don't my parents could without glasses. My watch had no issues with syn with the radio signal. The only complaint (why 4 not five stars) is that I have is the band seems cheap, although is secure to the watch well. I am used to the g-shock bands so it maybe just be different. I will wait a few days but will most likely replace the band at walmart. In all I am very happy with the watch for the price.

 "Great watch" 2009-06-17
By J. Aceti (Washington Crossing, PA)
Having used this watch for about six months I can say it is very dependable, durable and a great value. Living in PA unfortunately does not allow the atomic clock syncronization to take place - apparently we are too far from the Colorado timing source. Also dispite my advanced degress - getting this watch to do anything other than tell time is always a refferal back to the operator's manual.

"Best full-featured watch at budget price" 2009-09-12
By Carl Lacy (San Jose, CA)
I looked for years for a functional watch with countdown timer, stopwatch and alarm features which did not look like a "sports" watch in the office environment. Although not terribly impressive in appearance, the budget price and full features make it the best watch I've owned. I won't spend more on a watch because I'm active and my watches get worn and scratched quickly. I bought the same model two years ago and it now looks tawdry so I replaced it with this one.

Two features really stand out. My prior watches with a countdown timer were very hard to reset. If, for example, you had set the timer to 25 minutes and later need to reset to 15 minutes you had to go all the way up to 60 minutes, back to zero, and up to 15. With this watch you can move the timer up or down and I use the timer much more due to that convenience.

Second, I really like the atomic feature which makes the watch 100% accurate. It's awesome to get this on a watch this price. I have a second atomic clock at home from a different manufacturer and they always agree to the second. So, it does work.

I received by mail this wonderful watch and I was very impressed by it the minute I opened the box. It took me a few minutes to reset the time since the year and date were already preset. The watch bracelet was big but every time I have bought a watch, I have to have the band adjusted so it was no biggy. I took it to Walmart and they adjusted it free of charge. I love the watch, the price and it's accuracy. I am a very satisfied and happy owner of this watch. I recommend this watch to anybody. I give it a five star rating.

 "Great Watch" 2009-08-26
By M. Burris
Works and looks great. I wanted a metal band watch, the plastic ones seem to fall apart after about year. My last watch looked good, but the band started cracking and was in pieces in less than a year, the special design of the band made it imposible to replace. The time feature has been updating every night while still on my wrist, no special placement needed for the updates, but we live somewhat close to the signal source(KS).

"Better than what it replaced" 2009-08-20
By r_a_b (NRV, VA USA)
This watch is fine for me; I purchased it after reading most reviews and keeping a positive attitude. Also, I kept in mind the price, which was reasonable. If you check the La Crosse Technology WT-967S Metal Strap Atomic Watch, you will better appreciate what one gets for the money invested in this little, er...large goodie. Based on all the complaints about the watch band, I planned ahead. When the Casio arrived, I took the aftermarket "twisty" band off my La Crosse and did a switcheroo. It took me 10 minutes, and I have fat fingers and lousy (even with glasses) close-up vision. I already knew my time signal reception was pretty good here in Southwest Virginia, and the Casio found the signal every day just setting on my dresser. I'm five-stars-happy with this product.

 "Seen but not heard." 2009-09-12
By G. Nunnari
I have been looking for a long time for a replacement watch for my trusty, rugged 10-year-old G-Shock Digital. It still keeps time but it's really beat up. And since I often stay at hotels or nap in my car, I have been feeling the need for a new watch with a dependable alarm feature...preferably one with a snooze. So after much research, I ordered the WaveCepSolar. With its handsome, elegant quality and the sweep second hand, it's a real beauty! And not having to set/change time or batteries is simply the bomb! But its alarm function turned out to be a real joke! Very disappointing. When the alarm sounds, there's a tiny, barely audible tone (very faint and muted which lasts for only ten seconds then shuts off automatically) which wouldn't wake the lightest sleeper. I seriously doubt a dog more than 10 feet away could hear it. If expecting the alarm to remind me of an important meeting or objective while in a noisy work environment, forget it. I couldn't even hear it go off. I returned the watch for refund and am still looking for a replacement for my trusty, rugged ole G-Shock.

 "Great watch, terrible band" 2009-09-07
By Paul E. Seidel
A great watch once you have spent a lot of time deciphering the instructions under a magnifing glass. The main problem for me is the very uncomfortable watch band. It's a unique, semi-stiff resin of some kind that you can't change. If I snug it up, I get sore spots after a few hours. For my wrist, whether it's hot or cold outside, I can never find a comfort zone for wearing this strap and watch. Don't have this problem with any of my other 6 watches. It's now a nice atomic ornament on my dresser top.

 "Excellent choice" 2009-08-20
By dipling (CA)
I bought this watch couple months ago and use it very often. First of all the price is very reasonable and with amazon return policy you can't go wrong. I have few watches so this isn't my first one.

One thing about 'atomic' watches is that they have to be at cetain place to synchronize, but this one has very sensitive receiver and synchronizes everyday.

It has a lot of built-in functions some of them useless for me like 3 alarms because they aren't laud enough. Other like having other time zones, day date and you don't have to change the battery.

The sequence of initial setting is in wrong order in the manual. You have to set the daylight saving in your city before you select it as you local time zone, but this is minor. It is very accrate of course and light weight.

 "Nice, but... >>>UPDATE<<<" 2009-08-05
By C. Smith (Cleveland, OH)
Okay, I JUST received this watch yesterday. So, maybe things will change. First off, I love Casio watches. Good, and sometimes very cheap. Fun to buy and fun to wear and very accurate. This watch is beautiful. Nice domed crystal and attractive face. Precise hand movements and the hands are good quality compared to cheaper Casios. I love the band. It feels nicer and higher quality than cheaper Casios. One really nice aspect is that the end of the band (not the buckle end) has a little bulbous thickening at the end so it kind of snaps through the band loop and it retained. Nice quality touch.

(See Update below) Now, my only complaint so far, the radio seems weaker than my other atomic solar (G-Shock MT-G). The MT-G sets itself without fail even if I am wearing it at night and it is under my pillow in my bedroom - through 3 thick old-school plaster walls in a brick house in eastern Ohio. Strong.... This one seems less sensitive. I tried several times to synch it last night with errors each time - side by side my MT-G synched with no problem. Auto-synch over night failed too. This morning I got it to do a manual synch right around dawn. Since these quartz movements are so accurate, syncing every few days should keep it within a second or two. But that is NOT why you buy a waveceptor. You buy this watch to geek out on perfect time and reliable syncing. Maybe it will be better on a clear night, last night had a lot of clouds.

Overall, very nice watch. Very attractive and higher quality as expected from price compared to the $20 Casios. Waveceptor works, but not as sensitive as other models.

>>>>> Update <<<<< : Initial sync problems is resolved. It turns out that the battery was on MID charge. Although it was supposed ot have full function at MID, after charging to HI, sync works every night now. Solid watch.

 "Handsome, precise, durable" 2009-09-14
By R. Mansfield (Spokane, WA USA)
I love the watch. I had a similar model that broke because of the plastic (resin) case and the crystal scratched easily. This watch is dead accurate, you will find nothing more accurate this side of the National Bureau of Standards. The solar feature assures you shouldn't have to replace a battery in this lifetime. The crystal on this model is a mineral crystal, hence, much tougher. And the face of the watch has enough stainless material to protect the portions that are resin so it should remain a handsome watch and even tolerate some wear and tear. I'm getting to where I couldn't imagine keeping time with a lesser standard of features, accuracy and style. Casio has a winner with this watch and the price is very competitive.

"Nice looking watch for the stylish techie" 2009-06-26
By C. Alarcon (Vancouver, BC, CAN)
Well, I finally took the plunge and got this waveceptor watch. For starters, it is a very nice, elegant, large size watch (definitively not for you if you have small wrists). The metal finishing in the body and the buttons is impecable. The only flaw is the gray plastic underneath the metal faceplate; however, this makes the watch lighter and I'm pretty sure non-metallic enough to go through metal detectors without waking up the guards (have yet to test this, though).

As for the features, the light-rechargable battery works well, you still need to be careful not to cover it all the time with sleeves (beside, you want to show it off all the time, right?). The atomic clock signal sync works like a charm. Just follow the instructions for proper reception and, voilá! Extreme time accuracy without the price tag of a Rolex. Bottom line, a looker-kind of watch for the hardcore techie.
