This watch is the same as the Casio GW810D except for heavy duty resin bezel, buttons, and band instead of the GW810D's stainless and plastic painted to look like metal bezel, buttons, and band.
This makes for a very versatile, tough, and fully featured watch that looks more rugged than the GW810D. As you have read elsewhere, the buttons take a bit of getting used too because they are so hearty, but pushing the buttons becomes easy once your subconsious takes over. My watch has seen the some of the same abuse that killed my non-Gshock watches and has come through w/out a scratch. Following the lead of some Gshock users, I've removed some of the bright paint used for lettering for a more subdued look.
It has a great feature set. If you've ever had a Casio, you know how easy they are to learn to use. A feature I didn't think I needed, but have come to love is the auto el feature. It automatically flashes the light on for just over a second if you look at the watch in the dark.
This watch is also cool because you can see the time of day when in in countdown timer mode.
This is a great watch if you want: solar charging, atomic time setting, world time, stopwatch, and countdown timer with a light. You can't go wrong with this watch. Looking for something more white collar? Try the GW810D.

I got my husband this watch as an anniversary gift, and he LOVES it. He even read the manual (something he rarely does) to discover so many of it many useful features, like the automatic light. But the most he likes about it, is the solar charge, and the fact that on top of being a G Shock, it is supposed to resist mud. Also, it is not overly large as other G-shock models, plus the band has one of the best designs for a sports watch, it will easily adjust to any wrist. I tried it on and was able to adjust it to my very small wrist, something that is even difficult with some women's watches. Therefore, this watch can be worn by anyone who needs a rugged, mud resistant watch.
The reason this watch is not getting 5 stars, is because the Atomic feature is only useful if you are near any of the covered areas, i.e. USA, Japan or Europe, for synchronization, AND you have to remember to leave the watch overnight close to a window. If travel to other countries, like South America, that feature is useless.

Buy this watch if you have ever had a watch battery die, had to change the time on your watch because it was losing/gaining seconds, or broke the face or strap of your watch during routine use.
This watch is TOUGH and RUGGED. I am not easy on anything I buy, and this watch laughs at the punishment I give it.

I bought this watch for my husband as his birthday gift last month.
He loves it. He wears it everyday while running.
The size and weight are perfect, and looks very good.

Overall I really love this watch so far. Very light weight, functions are easy to use, and the atomic timekeeping/solar aspects are perfect. I always went analog in the past and I wasn't sure if I really wanted to go digital. I actually loved that right from the beginning, doubt I will ever go back to analog except for a dress watch. It is so easy to read this watch, even under water. I got this mainly for the solar aspect and the toughness, but I love the way it looks as well. Actually a little smaller than my last casio, but that's no big deal. It is plenty big enough.
The only problem I have really had is that the part of the band where you tuck the excess band underneath slips down on occasion. This allows that extra band length to dangle out and it bugs the heck out of me because it starts hitting things immediately (like the butt of my rod while I am fishing). It may just be getting broken in, if not I will try to concoct something to keep it in place. Never had that issue with my other casio's.
Other than that small issue I love this watch and would highly recommend it.
