Set a course for adventure every day you wear this solar-powered Casio Pathfinder Triple Sensor men's digital watch (model PAG80-1V), which includes a built-in digital compass, altimeter, barometer, and thermometer. This extra-large, round watch features large function buttons that are easily accessible even when wearing gloves. Both the case and strap are made from durable resin. The digital compass displays 16 directions and has a 5-set memory capacity that captures direction, month, date, and measurements time data. The altimeter measures up to 32,800 feet (10,000 meters) in 20-foot (5-meter) increments, and it can store 50 sets of altitude memory with date and temperature. It also provides a target altitude alarm and graphing capability for target and altitude tendency.
Because it's solar-powered--charging in either sunlight or indoor light--you'll never have to deal with changing the battery. Light enters the watch through the sapphire crystal and dial, and hits a solar cell beneath the dial. Current is created and stored in the battery. The duplex LCD provides two liquid crystal panels, enabling you to select from among different display patterns.
It offers a 1/100-second stopwatch with a 60-minute measuring capacity and elapsed time, split time, and 1st/2nd place time modes. It also includes a yacht timer, which is used to time the start of regattas. The countdown period can be set from 1 to 10 minutes. An acoustic signal is emitted after each minute has elapsed and then once a second for the last ten seconds. Other timekeeping functions include a daily alarm, optional hourly time signal, and 12/24-hour formats. Other features include a comfortable resin strap, scratch-resistant mineral crystal, AfterGlow LED electro-luminescent backlight, and water resistance to 100 meters (330 feet).

this altimeter watch is the fourth i have tried (thanks to generous return policies). it is the first that combines what i think important, namely: intuitive interface, meaning all functions really work and are easy to access, easy to read, and reasonably accurate. altimeter seems quite accurate, provided it is updated at known elevation often. barometer has a useful graph, also easily viewed.
a few negatives:it is BIG! i can't imagine wearing it on my wrist-- but fortunately it is possible to remove the band, and i now have a pocket watch which is what i wanted all along. the alarm is really faint, i don't think it could possibly wake you out of a deep sleep.

Great watch for not too much cost. Does most everything I want it to do and is easy to operate.

I have been wanting a Casio Pathfinder Watch for a long time. The prices have come down and the features and different watches available have increased. Let us hope the quality has not. I work and play outdoors a lot and need the features it offers. I can get a quick reference direction, Altimeter height etc quickly. This or no other watch that I am aware of that will replace your compass, GPS, real altimeters, precise thermometer, barometer etc, but augments other instruments and gives a good "quick reference" Buttons are easy to use.
I have used similar products with varying degrees of satisfaction in the past. Some cheap ones only offered Compass and were broken in 6 months, some of the more expensive ones (Scandinavian made) were fine, but required new batteries about once per year, that are supposed to be owner changeable, but I had to send back to the manufacturer for changing after tearing the back up trying to get it off. This one has a solar battery and is not supposed to need replacement (A++).
The only reason that I gave a 4 star rating instead of 5 is I'll have to wait and see if it holds up (to me and the elements, battery etc) and how cold weather will effect it's use. (I live in Alaska). The "Extreme Cold" feature of 14 degrees F is not realistic, even in other climate IMHO. I really love the watch so far. Cheaper at Amazon by at least $30 than the big box stores.

My experience with this watch has not been even close to satisfactory. The solar charged battery will not hold a charge long enough for this watch to be of any use. On a number of occasions the watch has indicated full charge and within 5 to 6 hours of being away from direct light the battery will be completely discharged and I have to charge it in direct light and reset all the settings. Although, I have had Casio products in the past that were great I cannot recommend this product.

Received excellent service from my first Pathfinder (currently undergoing open watch surgery). Haven't been below 160'FSW with this one, but assume it will perform like my older model. This model is a bit more stylish and has the solar power option. Looking forward to years of fun (like announcing the altitudes of different locations while climbing around Machu Pichu) with this one.
